Once a borehole has been established and is operational, there is generally little maintenance required. The pumps we use are known for their reliability and typically provide 10-15 years of trouble-free abstraction.
If filtration is required, this may involve annual maintenance, such as replacing filters and performing a brief system check. UV systems for bacteria require annual bulb replacements, and some particulate filters may also need replacement.
Occasionally, issues like iron bacteria can occur. Iron bacteria are small organisms naturally present in soil, shallow groundwater, and surface water. They combine iron or manganese with oxygen, forming deposits of "rust," bacterial cells, and a slimy residue that can stick to well pipes, pumps, and plumbing fixtures.
While iron bacteria do not pose immediate health risks, they can cause odours, corrode plumbing equipment, reduce well yields by clogging screens and pipes, and increase the likelihood of sulphur bacteria infestations. Treatment is available to address this issue, and we can provide the necessary solutions.
